Electrolysis
Permanent Hair Removal

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal procedure that can safely remove unwanted hair permanently, regardless of the cause. With the Apilus Dectro epilator machine, you can experience great results with a higher level of comfort and less pain. If you have tried other methods of hair removal without success, or if you were told that you were not a candidate, electrolysis is the solution for you.

FAQ

WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS?

The only permanent method of hair removal approved by the FDA and AMA.

Electrolysis can permanently remove hair of any color, including white, gray and blonde and it works on any skin tone.

WHAT CAUSES EXCESS HAIR?

Heredity, stress, hormonal changes related to puberty, menopause, pregnancy, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), underlying medical conditions and medications can all cause excess hair growth.

WHICH BODY PARTS ARE SUITABLE FOR ELECTROLYSIS?

Electrolysis can treat most facial and body parts, including eyebrows, chin, upper and lower lip, jaw line, sides of the face, breast, underarm, abdomen, bikini line, feet, legs and back.

HOW DOES ELECTROLYSIS WORK?

A sterile, pre-packaged disposable probe is inserted into the hair follicle (not piercing the skin). A low level electrical current is applied, destroying the hair root. The loosened hair is then easily removed with tweezers.

IS ELECTROLYSIS PAINFUL?

There will most likely be a little discomfort. Most people describe the feeling as either a heat sensation, a pinch or small sting.

The amount of discomfort you feel will depend on individual pain tolerance, the sensitivity of the body part being treated and the settings being used.

There are tips to minimize discomfort during treatment: being well hydrated, avoiding caffeine and applying over-the-counter numbing creams. Your electrologist will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that provides maximum effectiveness and comfort.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Hair density, growth cycle, hydration, pain tolerance, hormones all influence the treatment plan. Permanent clearance of an area requires multiple treatments.

Regular, consistent appointments are the key to success.

HOW MANY HAIRS DO I HAVE?

Hair grows in cycles and not all hairs are visible at the same time. The hair is in a constant state of growth, rest and replacement.

You may feel that you’ve tweezed the same hair over and over, but it’s actually a new hair in a different cycle of growth. It’s common for it to take 12-24 months to see all the hairs in an area.

Applying electrolysis as the hair is just emerging from the skin will have the best results.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A TREATMENT?

It’s normal to feel a slight stinging sensation and to see redness and some swelling after a treatment. This usually resolves in a few hours. You may also experience bumps or whiteheads. For best results follow the prescribed after care guidelines.
